2000 - A New Beginning

The past year was the first year that Friends of the Poudre had a full time staff. As a result we were able to be involved in several projects in ways that we had not been able to do in the past. Our budget expanded to about $40,000 to accommodate a $20,000 salary, mileage, long distance charges and a couple of programs that had direct expenses. We are still very efficient and have not opened an office or even put in a dedicated phone line. Chuck Wanner, who is the new director, operates out of his home at 1242 West Mountain Avenue. Chuck has been around the Poudre for twenty years now and was President of Preserve Our Poudre in the eighties. He currently serves on City Council. Chuck holds a Masters in public administration from the University of Colorado. He serves as the Chair of the Poudre Heritage Alliance, vice chair of the Larimer/Weld Water Issues Group, as a board member for the Big Thompson Watershed Forum, and as a steering committee member of the Colorado Watershed Assembly.
